2012 CODA International Awards

Congratulations to Jason Hay-Southwell, William Hay-Southwell, and
Mary Ann Hickman, the three recipients of the CODA Distinguished
Service Award of 2012 presented at the recent CODA International
Conference in Miami, Florida.
Criteria for consideration is: current membership, longevity and
consistency of membership, active role in the organization and
dedication to the CODA mission.

Thanks to the generosity of the membership we were able to grant two
full awards of $3000.00 and three partial awards of $1000.00 for
2012-2013. In addition to the scholarship money, the winners will each
get a year-long membership to CODA and $500 award to use towards
travel to an international conference within the next five years.

The 2012-2013 winners of the Millie Brother Scholarship full awards are:
Wayne Preston Taylor, Jr., Bartlett, TN
Joel Paola, San Diego, CA

The recipients of the partial awards are:
Erika Neilsen, Portland, OR
Kirstina Didero, Walnut Creek, CA
Mary Mugure Gakina, Naro-Moru, Kenya

Their winning essays will be published in the next Coda Connection
which you will be able to receive electronically if you are current
with your membership dues.

The Region III Coda Retreat is for persons over the age of 18 that grew up hearing and have Deaf parents. This is your opportunity to meet people from all over the globe who may have had similar experiences as you, growing up with Deaf parents, or/and your opportunity to re-connect with other Codas. What a wonderful experience!

Please note: Attendees are to be members of CODA International.   Please make sure your dues are paid to CODA International before registering for this retreat.

 Meet at Tower #19 @ PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) and Beach Blvd.

(When you drive on Beach Blvd. toward the water,

make a right to the City Beach and park near Tower #19)

 Parking Fee: $15.00 all day for cars, $40.00 for RVs.

 Bring your own lunches, drinks, chairs and umbrellas.

We will have games and prizes!!

(Feel free to kick back and enjoy the beauty of the sunset which will occur at 7:36 pm.)
