Nominations for 2013 SGO Board of Directors Open Through Nov. 8, 2012
For the first time in SGO's 43 year history, the 2013 election for the board of directors will be open, so members will have the opportunity to cast their votes online from a slate of candidates for each open position. Nominate a colleague or apply to serve on the 2013 SGO board of directors by filling out the online nominations form. For a list of open positions and more information on the nominations and election process, click here. Make sure to cast your vote when the election opens in January.

SGO Foundation Releases Survivorship Toolkit
SGO has developed a number of resources to help guide survivors on next steps after treatment. The Survivorship Toolkit can be used in conjunction with information physicians already provide to patients as they complete treatment. These tools include a treatment summary and survivorship care plans, a self-care, information cards and a survivorship calendar. Read the full press release in the SGO Newsroom.
Fellows and Residents: Submit your Original Research for Presentation
As a part of SGO’s 18th Annual Winter Meeting, Feb. 7-9, 2013, the conference will again include a Resident and Fellow Poster Session. Submitted research will be considered for both oral and poster presentations.
To submit your abstract for consideration, please complete a Resident and Fellow Poster Submission Form before November 16, 2012. All submissions must be in accordance with the Abstract Submission Rules.
In the News To promote awareness of “below the belt cancers” during Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month in September, SGO member Christina Chu, MD, Assistant Professor in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA, discusses the warning signs, treatment and prognosis for gynecologic cancers in the opening segment of “It’s Your Call with Lynn Doyle,” a Philadelphia area Comcast Network program. In an interview posted by Englewood Hospital in Englewood, NJ, SGO member Nimesh Nagarsheth, MD, Director of Gynecologic Oncology and Associate Director of Robotic Surgery at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, discusses his efforts to increase gynecologic cancer awareness through music.
