Pendleton Square Troop 7193

There are many activities at the Pendleton Community Networking Center at Pendleton Square Apartments in Philadelphia Mississippi. One of which includes Girl Scout Troop 7193. The troop is lead by the Center Director Cassandra Anderson and includes: Kevnna Chamberlin; Britney Leamond; Brianna Jones; Kimberly Jones; Mallory Jones; Alisha Ricks; Diamond Houston; Brittany Davis; Gayla Gibson; Candeshala Thomas; Desiree Hogan; Karshaundlyn Smith; and Tevia Smith.

This past Christmas Girl Scout Troop 7193 wanted to express their philanthropy by helping a family in need.  To select a family they turned to the "Plea for the Needy" column posted in The Neshoba Democrat Newspaper. All of the pleas that the girls reviewed were touching, but one plea immediately captured their hearts. The plea came from a man that had accepted the responsibility of raising five grandchildren alone after the death of his son. With the help of Cassandra and their families Troop 7193 began collecting boxes of food and toys which they gave to their chosen family the week before Christmas.

The generous act of kindness displayed by Troop 7193 has shown that these Girl Scouts are filled with compassion and generosity for others. Girl Scouting aims to empower girls and to help teach values such as honesty, fairness, courage, compassion, character, sisterhood, confidence, and citizenship through activities including camping, community service, learning first aid, and earning badges by acquiring other practical skills. Troop 7193 has shown us that they are true Girl Scouts and exemplify strong leadership and compassion for others.
