Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program

This page is for researchers--everyone from students doing a school project to professional researchers doing major studies of social policy.  It contains three basic sources of data:

  • Research published by the Food & Nutrition Service’s Office of Analysis, Nutrition & Evaluation;

  • Data on participation produced by FNS’s Program Information Division; and

  • Data on maximum allotments, income limits and allowable deductions.

If you’re a researcher, you won’t want to limit yourself to this page.  A good place to start for an introduction to SNAP is the Applicants and Recipients page.  Also, at some time, you will probably want to look at Governments, to see what directions we’re giving to the people who administer the Program.
