IHS Loan Repayment Program Overview

The mission of the Indian Health Service (IHS) is to raise the physical, mental, social and spiritual health of American Indians and Alaska Natives to the highest level.

The IHS LRP was created to support this mission by providing health professionals like you the financial freedom to fulfill your career goals. The IHS LRP awards up to $20,000 per year for the repayment of your qualified student loans in exchange for an initial two-year service obligation to practice full time at an Indian health program site.

By accepting an IHS LRP award, you will be joining our efforts to provide quality health care services to American Indian and Alaska Native communities. You will begin a career that serves a purpose and mission and will provide care to patients who truly need you.
