Can my family coverage continue if I die?

After your death, your eligible family members will continue to be covered if:

1) You were enrolled for Self and Family, and

2) A family member receives a survivor annuity.

The coverage ends if the survivor annuity terminates. The survivors share of the cost of the plan is the same amount you are paying and will be deducted from the survivor annuity payment.

If your eligible family members don't meet the requirements to continue Federal Employees Health Benefits coverage if you die, they may be eligible for a 31-day extension of coverage and conversion and conversion as well as Temporary Continuation of Coverage.
