Keep Your Eye On It

If you have diabetes, there’s something you should keep your eye on: Your sight. If you don’t, diabetic eye disease can take it away. The good news is that diabetic eye disease can be treated and your vision can be saved—if you catch it early—through a dilated eye exam. Don’t wait for symptoms. If you have diabetes, get a dilated eye exam at least once a year. For a brochure, call the National Eye Institute at 1-877-569-8474. Diabetic Eye Disease

Of the 12 million Americans diagnosed with diabetes, nearly half will develop some form of diabetic eye disease. This condition can affect anyone with diabetes, but it doesn’t show symptoms until its advanced stages. Fortunately, if it’s detected early, diabetic eye disease can be treated, and your vision can be saved. People with diabetes should have an annual dilated eye exam. For a free brochure, call the National Eye Institute at 1-877-569-8474. Brought to you by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
