Upstate New York woman sentenced for conspiring to import ecstasy

BUFFALO, N.Y. – An upstate New York woman who was convicted of conspiring to import Ecstasy was sentenced to three years of probation and six months home detention with electronic monitoring. The sentence is the result of an investigation conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).

Tonya Colegrove, 35, of Waterloo, N.Y., was stopped at the Rainbow Bridge in Niagara Falls, N.Y., on April 2, 2006. Upon inspection, Colegrove was found to be smuggling nearly 2000 ecstasy tablets which were strapped to her body with duct tape.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert C. Moscati.
