    •  Hello to our supporters in the Northern VA area! Will you be joining us this Saturday at Thomas Jefferson Library in Falls Church to connect with others living with retinal disease and hear from experts on low vision aids, genetic testing and the latest macular degeneration research? Dr. Sonya Bryant of the The Retina Group of Washington (RGW) and Melissa Reeves, MS, MB (ASCP) CM of the National Eye Health Education Program (NEHEP) will be on hand to discuss treatments for macular degeneration and the work being done to discover genetic causes of ocular disease. We’d love to see you there! For more information, just click:

    •  I did some keyword searching for the word retina, i found some really impressive information. "There are roughly a hundred million light receptors in each eye, but only half a million ganglion cells.... "Rods and cones are not distributed uniformly across the retina. Most of the cones are in or near the fovea, the central part of the visual field. Most of the rods are in the peripheral part of the visual field. As mentioned above, rods are used for night vision and cones subserve daylight vision". cns.nyu.edu/~david
