In February 2011, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents executed a federal search warrant at the residence of a former Los Angeles police officer and Special Forces medic. They seized four computers, a camera and other electronic equipment. A forensic analysis of the electronics found more than 1,400 images and several hundred videos of child pornography. Full Story
A California man recruited people who wanted a genuine California driver's license but could not obtain one through legitimate means. He had them complete a Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) application form, and for a fee, he passed the information and payment on to a DMV technician. The technician would then alter the application to reflect that the individual had passed the required DMV tests, and the individual would receive a genuine driver's license. Full Story
A Mexican national residing in Silver Spring, Md., who was wanted in his native country for homicide, was turned over to Mexican law enforcement officials Monday evening by ICE's Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) officers. Full Story
ICE ERO announced Tuesday the opening of its first-ever, designed-and-built civil detention center, as part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) overall detention reform program. The Karnes County Civil Detention Center is a 608-bed civil immigration detention facility designed to house adult male, low-risk, minimum security detainees. Full Story
Danish law enforcement officials notified HSI special agents about an Internet video of an adult male molesting a young boy. The video appeared to originate in North America. WJLA-TV in Washington, D.C., aired a story about the unidentified suspect, which led a viewer to call the HSI Tip Line. Full Story
