Oct. 5, 2012 – New TV series takes viewers behind the scenes with HSI special agents at JFK

In a new television series, "To Catch a Smuggler," that will air Monday, Oct. 8 at 9 p.m. (EST/PT) on the National Geographic Channel, viewers follow U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents at the John F. Kennedy International Airport as they apprehend and investigate criminals who try to smuggle contraband into the United States. Full Story

Oct. 4, 2012 – HSI seized 686 websites selling counterfeit medicine to unsuspecting consumers

The U.S. and a hundred other countries took part in a global law enforcement action that targeted the online sale of counterfeit and illegal medicines. The 686 seized websites were part of Project Bitter Pill, an Operation in Our Sites effort. Full Story

Oct. 4, 2012 – Michigan man sentenced to 57 months for role in Ponzi scheme

A Michigan man was sentenced Thursday to nearly five years in prison for his role in an investment fraud scheme in which multiple victims were defrauded of more than $2 million. This joint investigation was conducted by the FBI, HSI and the Internal Revenue Service. Full Story

Oct. 3, 2012 – Pennsylvania store owner sentenced to 44 months in prison for trafficking in counterfeit goods

Following an investigation by HSI, a Pennsylvania man was sentenced to 44 months in prison, ordered to pay a $2,500 fine and a $100 special assessment, and ordered three years of supervised release for trafficking in counterfeit goods. Full Story

Oct. 2, 2012 – ICE deports man wanted for murder, organized crime, extortion in El Salvador

Officers with ICE's Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) deported an El Salvador man, wanted in his country for murder, organized crime and extortion. Full Story
