February Month in History

In 1970, George Bush volunteered for the post of United Nations Ambassador. His nomination brought challenges, as he was seen as an oilman from Texas with no foreign affairs experience. Bush felt that his experience as a salesman gave him invaluable skills and would make him “the American salesman in the world marketplace for ideas.” Bush served as the United Nations Ambassador from 1971-1973.

The Bush Library and Museum will host a Classic Film Night on March 14th and show "The Women in the Window" part of the Mysteries of Life film series. This film directed by Fritz Lang features Edward G. Robinson and Joan Bennett.

"Empires Fall"

Save the date of March 1 for a staged reading of "Empires Fall," a play by Robert Lawson with Marlin Fitzwater. This play centered around the relationship between President Bush and General Secretary Gorbachev after the fall of the Berlin Wall, and before the dissolution of the Soviet Union.
