USCIS Centralizes Filing for Qualifying Family of Deceased Service Members

WASHINGTON - U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is now accepting applications for naturalization from qualifying family members of deceased service members at the Nebraska Service Center (NSC). Eligible applications received at the NSC will be handled by a specialized team dedicated to processing applications for members of the U.S. armed forces and their families.

If you are the spouse, child, or parent of a deceased service member who was:

  1. A citizen (including someone granted posthumous citizenship) and
  2. Was serving honorably on active duty in the U.S. armed forces at the time of death,

you may now file your Application for Naturalization (Form N-400) under section 319(d) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) at the NSC, regardless of your geographic location.  The correct address is:

For U.S. Postal Service deliveries:

Nebraska Service Center
PO Box 87426
Lincoln, NE 68501-7426

For Express Mail and Courier deliveries:

Nebraska Service Center
850 S. Street
Lincoln, NE 68508

Members of the military community applying for naturalization, including service members and military spouses, also should submit their N-400 applications to this address.  All other applicants should continue to file Form N-400 at the designated facility based on the location of their residence.

The N-400 form instructions have been updated to reflect the new filing location.  Therefore, this filing address change takes effect immediately.  Family members of deceased service members who file their Form N-400 with a Lockbox facility may face a delay in processing while USCIS forwards the incorrectly filed application to the NSC.
