Ready

Ready

Plan. Prepare. Stay Informed.

Launched in February 2003, Ready is a national public service advertising campaign designed to educate and empower Americans to prepare for and respond to emergencies including natural disasters and potential terrorist attacks. The goal of the campaign is to get the public involved and ultimately to increase the level of basic preparedness across the nation.

Empowering Americans to Prepare for and Respond to Emergencies

Ready asks individuals to take these simple steps:

  • Prepare, plan and stay informed in the event of a disaster
  • Build an emergency supply kit and make a family emergency plan
  • Be informed about what to do before, during and after a disaster as well as the range of different types of emergencies that could occur and appropriate responses
  • Get involved in community efforts such as Citizen Corps

Reaching Many Audiences in Many Languages

In addition to the core information, the site offers special focus sections for business and kids, as well as a Spanish language version of the site called Listo.

The Ready site itself has content available in 12 languages, including Arabic, Chinese, French, Haitian, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog, Urdu and Vietnamese.
