Positive Staff Development

tags:

A diverse group of people welcomes someone to the front door.We all want to help young people exercise their strengths and build their competence. We strive to promote young people’s positive relationships with others, to provide opportunities for youth to learn, and to empower them to assume leadership roles. We call all of that Positive Youth Development. But what about positive staff development?

In this issue, we take a strength-based perspective on hiring and managing staff to avoid turnover. We also look at what to keep in mind when hiring former clients and how to juggle all the tasks of operating a youth- and family-serving agency with an undersized staff.
