August 29, 2012, marked the Sesquicentennial Anniversary of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP).  Since 1862, the BEP has been entrusted with the mission of manufacturing the nation’s currency.  We have established a remarkable legacy of pride, craftsmanship, and innovation over the past 150 years, making this organization the premier leader in banknote production.  

The BEP has achieved significant milestones in currency design and production most recently with the integration of color and cutting-edge security technology.  Today, the BEP develops and produces currency notes, trusted and used worldwide.  There is more than 1 trillion notes in circulation, two-thirds of which is overseas.
