The City’s other large treatment facility, the 14 MGD Zacate Creek WWTP in south central Laredo, is on a confined site and the collection/conveyance system is at capacity. As well, river flooding from Hurricane Alex in 2010 partially submerged the Zacate Creek WWTP, putting its continued operation in question. The influent lift station at the Southside WWTP will be replaced with an 18 MGD average daily, 45 MGD peak flow lift station. Work will include aeration tanks, clarifiers, new head works, new disinfection tanks, and sludge processing facilities.
