Nanoscale Science and Engineering Centers (NSEC)

Nanoscale science and engineering, conducted on the scale of individual atoms, are projected to be among the largest drivers of technological innovation for the next decade and beyond. This potential was recognized in the National Nanotechnology Initiative and more recently in the American Competitiveness Initiative, particularly in the burgeoning area of nanomanufacturing. Research at NSF-funded Nanoscale Science and Engineering Centers aims to advance the development of ultra-small technology that will transform electronics, materials, medicine, environmental science and many other fields.
