More Information

Washington, DC…On Tuesday, July 10, at 7:30 p.m., the National Archives hosts a panel discussion:  America Works: The Past, Present, and Future of Job Creation and Employment in America. This program is presented in partnership with the U.S. Association of Former Members of Congress.

A panel of experts will use history as a medium to explore the future of our evolving jobs market and how past transitional periods have affected America’s position in a global economy. By comparing and contrasting current challenges to past events (e.g., the Great Depression, the advent of “Reaganomics,” or past recessions), the panelists will evaluate the scope, severity, and solutions up for debate that have historically succeed or failed.

Moderated by Hans Nichols, White House Correspondent, Bloomberg Television, panelists include: former Congressman Mark Kennedy; former Senator Larry Pressler; former Congressman Bob Clement; Nela Richardson, Senior Economic Analyst for Bloomberg Government; and David Sicilia, Department of History and Smith School of Business, University of Maryland.

The program is free and open to the public. It will be held in the William G. McGowan Theater of the National Archives Building in Washington, DC, located on the National Mall at Constitution Ave. and 7th Street, NW. Metro accessible on the Yellow and Green lines, Archives/Navy Memorial/Penn Quarter station. Attendees should enter through the Special Events entrance on 7th and Constitution Ave, NW. The National Archives is fully accessible.
