Jessica McCormick never doubted she was going to college. Not when she ran away from a violent home the summer before her senior year. Not when she bounced among the houses of friends and extended family. Not when, more than once, she wound up living on the streets of her hometown, Grand Rapids, MI, for several weeks.
Carl was always getting kicked out of class for making everyone laugh. Today, he has a job on the pediatric ward of a hospital, where he lifts the spirits of sick children. Jonsie ran in to trouble with the law for her graffiti. Now she’s enrolled in an art program at her college and designs T-shirts for a clothing company.
