Public Health Grand Rounds

Public Health Grand Rounds

The Public Health Grand Rounds is a monthly webcast created to foster discussion on major public health issues. Each session focuses on key challenges related to a specific health topic, and explores cutting-edge scientific evidence and potential impact of different interventions. The Grand Rounds sessions also highlight how CDC and its partners are already addressing these challenges and discuss the recommendations for future research and practice.

Unsafe Injection Practices in the U.S. Healthcare System
Tuesday, November 13, 2012, 1pm (EDT)

Syringe and solution

Injectable medicines are commonly used in healthcare settings for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of various illnesses. Unsafe injection practices put patients at risk of infection, and have been associated with a wide variety of procedures and settings. Unsafe injections also increase the burden on patients, healthcare providers, and medical care and public health systems. This harm is preventable through renewed attention to infection control and injection safety practices. This session of Grand Rounds will explore the future of injection safety in public health.

Tentative future Grand Rounds topics include disability and venous thromboembolism.
