Description:	This 2004 photograph showed Dr. William “Bill” Collins, a research biologist with the National Center for Infectious Diseases (NCID), Division of Parasitic Diseases (DPD). This photograph was one of a series of images taken in honor of Dr. Collins’ 50th anniversary at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Beginning October 1, 1954, Dr. Collins had developed the vast majority of the nonhuman primate animal model systems used to study the immunobiology of human and nonhuman primate malariae. He has been the lead investigator responsible for the establishment of the CDC as a major international center for its work on malarial vaccines.
