2012 Form M-1

EBSA announced on December 31, 2012 that the 2012 Form M-1 for Multiple Employer Welfare Arrangements (MEWAs) and Certain Entities Claiming Exception (ECEs) will be available shortly. Administrators of a MEWA or ECE will soon be able to use EBSA's expanded online filing system for all 2012 filings and beyond.
A MEWA is an arrangement that offers medical benefits to the employees of two or more employers or to their beneficiaries. Due to changes made by the Affordable Care Act, the 2012 Form M-1 will be substantively different than previous versions of the Form M-1.
Updates on the new online filing system are available on EBSA's website at www.askebsa.dol.gov/mewa. It will allow a filer the flexibility to complete the form in multiple sessions, submit a form electronically at no cost and print a copy for his or her records. The website will include instructions, frequently asked questions, and a self-compliance tool. Late Form M-1 filings for the Years 2003-2011 Form M-1 can still be made at www.askebsa.dol.gov/mewa.
