Innovative Approaches for Preventing or Treating Childhood Obesity

The Safeway Foundation and Children’s Hospital & Research Center Oakland will fund innovative projects that address childhood obesity. Nonprofits applying for funding must be near a Safeway store. Some of the types of projects that might be funded include

  • clinic-community partnerships that create opportunities for children to be physically active
  • targeted education programs that encourage healthy snacks for children and teens
  • school-clinic partnerships that enhance healthy eating and active living at school
  • family programs that demonstrate health-supporting activities for children and teens
