The Sustainable Sites Initiative™ (SITES™) is an interdisciplinary effort by the American Society of Landscape Architects, the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center at The University of Texas at Austin and the United States Botanic Garden to create voluntary national guidelines and performance benchmarks for sustainable land design, construction and maintenance practices. Major funding for the Sustainable Sites Initiative is provided by the Meadows Foundation and Landscape Structures.

Public Comment Period Now Closed

Thanks to everyone who submitted comments on the proposed SITES 2013 Prerequisites and Credits! The complete 2013 Rating System and Reference Guide will be finalized and released mid-2013, at which time open enrollment will begin for any project to pursue certification.

SITES Certifies More Projects

SITES has announced eight more certified landscapes that show how the Rustbelt, Big Apple, Midwest and sunny Southern California share common ground. The eight projects represent the second group of landscapes to apply the guidelines and meet the requirements for certification among 150 projects in an extensive SITES pilot program. Learn more about them here.
