CMS EHR Certification Identification Number

Part of the attestation process for EPs and EHs is sharing the CMS EHR Certification Identification Number (CMS EHR Certification ID) with CMS. To obtain a CMS EHR Certification ID, follow the steps outlined below:

  • 1. Select your practice type by selecting the Ambulatory or Inpatient buttons.
  • 2. Search for EHR Products by browsing all products, searching by product name or searching by criteria met.
  • 3. Add product(s) to your cart to determine if your product(s) meet 100% of the required criteria.

What is the difference between a CHPL Product Number and a CMS EHR Certification Identification Number?

A CMS EHR Certification Identification Number is a number generated by the CHPL used for reporting to CMS for Meaningful Use attestation. It represents a product or combination of products in the CHPL.

Each certified EHR product on the CHPL has a product number assigned to it by the ONC-ACB or ONC-ATCB that certified the product. This is called the "CHPL Product Number." The CHPL Product Number is distinct from (i.e. NOT) the CMS EHR Certification Identification Number used for reporting to CMS.

How to Use the CHPL

Step-by-step instructions on navigating the CHPL and obtaining an EHR Certification ID are available on the CHPL main page.
