Prior to her selection, Vonda served as the Deputy Director for Human Capital Management at the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, where she provided leadership on a wide range of Human Capital, administrative, and business issues.

Spending much of her federal career with the U.S. Forest Service, Vonda served as a Senior Human Resources Specialist (2000-2006) and as Special Assistant to the Director (2007-2009). In addition, she spent a year at the U.S. Department of Labor in Office of the Assistant Secretary for Administration and Management (OASAM) overseeing the Workforce Restructuring Program for DOL. In both roles, Vonda was responsible for providing strategic guidance on the creation of a results-oriented, performance-based culture. She has extensive knowledge in workforce restructuring and management, leading sensitive and complex efforts such as transferring oversight and operation of numerous Job Corps Centers from the National Park Service to the U.S. Forest Service.

Prior to joining the Federal government, Vonda served as President and Founder of the Sumter Learning Center, a non-profit organization with the mission of decreasing the "digital divide" by providing after-school tutoring and computer classes to children from disadvantaged backgrounds. Vonda is an active volunteer in her community, serving on various boards and commissions. Additionally, she is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., a private, non-profit organization promoting academic excellence and providing service to the community. Vonda holds a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management from the University of Alabama (Huntsville) and a Master's degree in Human Resources Management from Troy State University. Her favorite quote is "When the customer comes first, the customer will last"- Robert Half.

During her 12 years of federal experience, Vonda has established a proven track record as a "high-performer," consistently improving customer satisfaction rankings. She has received numerous awards including the Department of Labor Secretary's Exceptional Achievement Award.
