Produced in conjunction with the exhibition J.M.W. Turner, this documentary chronicles Turner’s career: a barber’s son, he entered the Royal Academy art school at age fourteen and became, over the course of six decades, Britain’s greatest landscape painter. This film includes footage of locations important to Turner in Wales, England, Switzerland, and Italy, and readings from John Ruskin, Lord Byron, and other writers and artists of the era.

 

Narrated by Jeremy Irons.
