USCIS Freedom of Information Act and Privacy Act

To ensure openness and transparency and to better serve those seeking more information about USCIS and its operations, the agency centralized processing of all USCIS-related Freedom of Information Act and Privacy Act (FOIA/PA) requests in a single office.  The USCIS centralized FOIA office receives, tracks, and processes all USCIS FOIA requests.

NOTICE TO FOIA REQUESTERS: We are experiencing system issues with some of our FOIA requests. As a result, processing times for some cases may be extended. We are working with our system developers to correct the problem. In the meantime, average processing times are listed on our FOIA page Check Status of Request. If you have submitted a FOIA request and have not yet received your records, please check the link for our current average processing times. If our response time has exceeded the average listed, you may request the status of your case by contacting our FOIA mailbox at: uscis.foia@dhs.gov.
