Mounted Color Guard (left) charge Brooks field in traditional fashion June 21 at the conclusion of the change of command between Col. Christopher Toner and Col. William Ostlund, the outgoing and incoming commanders of the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division.
Col. Brig. Gen. Donald MacWillie, Deputy Commander of the 1st Infantry Division, transferred the Brigade colors to Ostlund while Toner looks on during the ceremony, which marked the first time the brigade had changed command at Fort Knox since its activation on the installation in Oct. 2009. The brigade was previously stationed at Fort Hood, Texas prior to its 2008 deployment to Afghanistan, and before that it was stationed in Germany.
