SAMHSA is accepting applications for a Physician Clinical Support System for Medication-Assisted Treatment cooperative agreement with up to $3 million in funding


The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is accepting applications for one Physician Clinical Support System for Medication-Assisted Treatment cooperative agreement totaling up to $3 million over the course of up to three years. The purpose of this programis to expand upon the current SAMHSA-funded Physician Clinical Support System – Buprenorphine (PCSS-B) -- a national mentoring network offering support (clinical updates, evidence-based outcomes and training), to office-based physicians and opioid treatment program professionals

This cooperative agreement will also provide evidence-based training and up-to-date treatment modalities surrounding complex issues of addiction.  SAMHSA expects that up to one grantee will receive up to $1 million a year for up to three years. The actual award amounts may vary, depending on the availability of funds.

WHO CAN APPLY: Eligibility is limited to the national professional medical organizations

authorized by the Drug Addiction Treatment Act of 2000 (DATA) to carry out the training of

physicians desiring to prescribe and/or dispense FDA approved schedule III products for the

treatment of addictive disorders.  These are the American Society of Addiction Medicine, the

American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry, the American Medical Association, the American

Osteopathic Association, and the American Psychiatric Association.

APPLICATION DUE DATE:  April 1, 2013. Applications must be received by the due date and time to be considered for review. Please review carefully Section IV-3 of the application announcement for submission requirements.
