Overview:

The next generation of public health preparedness leaders will emerge from today’s youth. It is essential that programs exist to effectively mentor and develop youth to plan for and respond to public health emergencies. Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) is a national organization that provides a unique program of leadership development, motivation, and recognition for health science technology education students, and serves as a model of how students are engaging in public health volunteer activities. During this call, leaders from HOSA and the Office of the Civilian Volunteer Medical Reserve Corps (OCVMRC) will discuss the importance of identifying and collaborating with community partners to strengthen public health infrastructure through student volunteerism, and will present ”real-life” examples of how HOSA and OCVMRC have partnered to provide opportunities for students to engage in public health preparedness and response activities.
