"When this library is filled with documents, and scholars come here to probe into some of the facts of the past half century, I hope that they, as we today, are concerned primarily with the ideals, principles, and trends that provide guides to a free, rich, peaceful future in which all peoples can achieve ever-rising levels of human well-being."

Speech at the Ground Breaking Ceremonies for the Library, October 13, 1959

Ike Hike & Camporee
April 19-21
The Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum and the Coronado Area Council will host the second Annual Boy Scout “Ike Hike & Camporee,” April 19 – 21. The event kicks off with an overnight stay at Brown Memorial Camp. April 20, Boy Scouts will hike to the presidential library to make camp and participate in an activity-filled afternoon. Evening events include a tribute to President Eisenhower, and featured speaker Larry Bjornson, author of Wide Open, the well received historical novel recounting Abilene’s raucous cowtown days.

Boy Scout troops interested in attending should contact Nick Boden, Coronado Area Council, by email at or via phone at 785-827-4461 (ext. 205).

Five Star Leaders
Five Star Leaders is an experiential-learning leadership program which challenges students in grades 8-12, college students, and adults to work together to solve a problem, confront a crisis, or accomplish a mission. Armed with original documents and knowledge of history and leadership, students take on the same challenges as those experienced by historical figures.

Boy Scouts of America
BSA Programs at the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum teach the value of civic knowledge and engagement and encourage Scouts to be actively involved in the democratic process. Participating Scouts will earn the new Eisenhower Patch. The partnership between the Boy Scouts of America and the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum builds on Dwight D. Eisenhower's commitment to civic education.
