NCES 2013150 Web Tables—Profile of 2007–08 First-Time Bachelor’s Degree Recipients in 2009
These Web Tables use data from the first follow-up of the 2008 Baccalaureate and Beyond (B&B:08/09) study to display a wide range of information on demographic characteristics, educational experiences, and student loan borrowing of 2007–08 first-time bachelor’s degree recipients. In addition to undergraduate experiences, tables display information on employment, community service, postbaccalaureate enrollment, and student loan debt 1 year after bachelor’s degree completion. Results are shown by selected student demographic and enrollment characteristics.

NCES 2012046 Higher Education: Gaps in Access and Persistence Study
The Higher Education: Gaps in Access and Persistence Study is a congressionally-mandated statistical report that documents the scope and nature of gaps in access and persistence in higher education by sex and race/ethnicity. The report presents 46 indicators grouped under seven main topic areas: (1) demographic context; (2) characteristics of schools; (3) student behaviors and afterschool activities; (4) academic preparation and achievement; (5) college knowledge; (6) postsecondary education; and (7) postsecondary outcomes and employment. In addition, the report contains descriptive multivariate analyses of variables that are associated with male and female postsecondary attendance and attainment.

NCES 2012256 Web Tables—Occupational and Academic Majors in Postsecondary Education: 6-Year Education and Employment Outcomes, 2001 and 2009.
These Web Tables compare the 6-year education and labor force outcomes for beginning undergraduates who initially enrolled in postsecondary education in 1995–96 and 2003–04 by whether they majored in an academic or occupational field of study. The data are from two iterations of the Beginning Postsecondary Students Longitudinal Study (BPS:96/01 and BPS:04/09). The first followed first-time undergraduates who began postsecondary education in 1995–96 until June 2001, and the second followed first-time undergraduates who began postsecondary education in 2003–04 until June 2009. Occupational fields in postsecondary education include a range of majors, including business and marketing and health sciences, and account for a majority of undergraduate postsecondary students.

NCES 2012245 2008-09 Baccalaureate and Beyond Longitudinal Study: Restricted-Use First Follow-up Data Files and File Documentation
The Baccalaureate and Beyond Longitudinal Study (B&B) examines students’ education and work experiences after they complete a bachelor’s degree, with a special emphasis on the experiences of new elementary and secondary teachers. The B&B:08/09 cohort also includes an oversample of STEM graduates.

This DVD-ROM contains the restricted-use base-year interview, first follow-up interview, and undergraduate transcript data for the 15,000 (approx.) B&B:08/09 sample members.

REL 2012130 Retirement Patterns of California Prekindergarten – Grade 12 Educators
This study examines retirement pat-terns of California educators from 1995/96 to 2009/10. It finds that the percentage of educators over age 60 doubled, educators were more likely to retire when a school district’s local revenue decreased, and the percentage of retired educators returning to work increased.

NCES 2012273 Beginning Subbaccalaureate Students’ Labor Market Experiences: Six Years Later in 2009
These Web Tables use data from the 2004/09 Beginning Postsecondary Students Longitudinal Study to identify and present the demographic and employment characteristics of certificate and associate’s degree completers and noncompleters. Labor market experiences presented include employment status as of spring 2009, unemployment spells since last enrolled, median salary earned as of spring 2009, employer-offered benefits, and job satisfaction.

NCES 2013156 Web Tables—Trends in Debt for Bachelor’s Degree Recipients a Year After Graduation: 1994, 2001 and 2009
This report presents a comprehensive set of tables about the debt of recent college graduates for three cohorts of bachelor’s degree recipients spanning a 15-year period. Tables feature statistics on loan repayment, further educational pursuits, and employment status of first-time bachelor’s degree recipients who graduated in 1992–93, 1999–2000, and 2007–08. Borrowing and debt detail includes the percentage of college graduates who borrowed, the cumulative amount borrowed to obtain a bachelor’s degree, repayment status after 1 year, average amounts owed, average monthly payments, and debt burden for all three cohorts. Tables also present information about subsequent enrollment in post-bachelor’s education, participation in the labor market, including K-12 teaching, and annual salary. Lastly, tables present graduates’ debt status relative to their living arrangements, (with parents, own or rent residence), family formation, and whether borrowers had a spouse also repaying loans. All tables are broken out by key demographic, enrollment, and employment characteristics.

NCES 201002 2008/09 Baccalaureate and Beyond Longitudinal Study (B&B:08/09) Field Test Methodology Report - Working Paper Series
This report describes the methodology and findings for the field test of the 2008/2009 Baccalaureate and Beyond Longitudinal Study (B&B:08/09). These students, who completed their bachelor’s degree requirements during the 2007-08 academic year, were first interviewed as part of the 2008 National Postsecondary Student Aid Study (NPSAS:08) field test. BPS:08/09 is the first follow-up of this cohort. The B&B:08/09 field test was used to plan, implement, and evaluate methodological procedures, instruments, and systems proposed for use in the full-scale study scheduled for the year following graduation from a bachelor’s degree program. The report provides the sampling design and methodologies used in the field test. It also describes data collection outcomes, including response rates, interview burden, and results of incentive, mailing, and prompting experiments. In addition, the report provides details on the evaluation of data quality for reliability of responses, item nonresponse, and question delivery and data entry error. Recommendations for the full-scale study are provided for the sampling design, locating and tracing procedures, interviewer training, data collection, and instrumentation.

NCES 2009039 Comparative Indicators of Education in the United States and Other G-8 Countries: 2009
This report describes how the education system in the United States compares with education systems in the other G-8 countries--Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Russian Federation, and the United Kingdom. Twenty-seven indicators are organized in five sections: (1) population and school enrollment; (2) academic performance (including subsections for reading, mathematics, and science); (3) context for learning; (4) expenditure for education; and (5) education returns: educational attainment and income. This report draws on the most current information about education from four primary sources: the Indicators of National Education Systems (INES) at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS), the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA), and the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS).
