State Magazine is published monthly, except bimonthly in July and August, by the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C. State Magazine is published to facilitate communication between management and employees at home and abroad and to acquaint employees with developments that may affect operations or personnel. The magazine is also available to persons interested in working for the Department of State and to the general public.

Submission Guidelines
State Magazine is always looking for interesting news and feature articles about the Department’s mission, events and employees. For more information on how to get your story told, click here.

State Magazine also runs obituaries of State Department employees, spouses and children. For guidelines on how to submit and obituary, click here.

If you are currently a subscriber and need to update your information, including change of address and cancellation requests, please fill out our online form.

Become a Subscriber
Printed copies of State Magazine are available to all current Department of State employees through shipments sent to their office or post. Retirees from the department can have a copy mailed to them each month upon their retirement. To fill out the online form and begin your subscription, click here.
