NIDA will present its Early Career Investigator Workshop on Tuesday, October 16, from 6:30-9:00 at the Grand Ballroom of the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel. This workshop offers the opportunity primarily for graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and junior investigators who have become newly independent or are in their first non-postdoctoral position, to have their questions answered concerning the NIH grant funding process. This session consists of several short presentations that provide a brief introduction to the NIH and the grant application and review process, the types of grants that are appropriate for early-stage investigators (NRSAs, K99/R00s, K01 and K08, selected R mechanisms), and helpful tips for developing your application, with ample time for questions. NIH staff will be on hand after the presentations to facilitate one-on-one interactions and to answer all your questions. NIDA encourages anyone who is planning on applying to the NIH, not just those who might apply to NIDA, for grant support of their research to attend.
