Developers of Megaupload.com Charged with Online Copyright Infringement

Yesterday, United States law enforcement officials announced charges against seven individuals and two corporations for running an international criminal enterprise allegedly responsible for worldwide online piracy of copyrighted works, including movies – often before their theatrical release – music, television programs, electronic books, and business and entertainment software on a massive scale.

According to  the U.S. Justice Department and the FBI, the defendants used Megaupload.com and other related sites to generate more than $175 million in criminal proceeds and cause more than half a billion dollars in harm to copyright owners.

This action is among the largest criminal copyright cases ever brought by the United States.

Yes.. What is most disturbing is that the individuals arrested were NOT U.S. citizens, so basically this is another example of the USA acting as the world police -- illegally.
