TransCAD/TransModeler

• TransModeler is used around the country: See some of the simulation and planning projects that are currently using TransModeler.

• Caliper develops TAZ software for tabulating Census transportation data: Caliper developed an extension to the MAF/TIGER Partnership Software (MTPS) that allows Metropolitan Planning Organizations and State Departments of Transportation to define traffic analysis zones (TAZs) based on Census geography.

• Transportation Planner's Accessibility Toolkit:
Awarded in response to a broad agency announcement from the FHWA, Caliper is developing a web-based transportation accessibility toolkit for transportation planners. The toolkit, which will be provided free of charge to state and local transportation agencies including MPOs and public transportation providers, will enable current and projected levels of accessibility (by car, public transit, and non-motorized modes) to be calculated by planners and citizens alike.

• TransCAD continues to be the planning software of choice:

The Reno and Boston MPOs are the latest to acquire TransCAD for regional travel demand forecasting. TransCAD is now used universally in both Nevada and Massachusetts.

Caliper is developing a new travel demand and land use model for the Santa Barbara County Association of Governments (SBCAG). The updated model is based upon 2010 Census and other newly available datasets. The model also incorporates 4Ds measures, contains activity-based modeling components, is sensitive to auto operating costs, land use changes, and will be compliant with California’s SB375 requirements. The model also integrates the UPLAN land use model and CommunityVIZ into the travel model process.
