eighth blackbird in the News!

As I opened up the Style section of The Washington Post today, I was excited to see a story by the Post’s music critic Anne Midgette on eighth blackbird, who will be performing here in Coolidge Auditorium tonight! Thought I’d share the story with our In the Muse readers to highlight the quality of performers featured in our concert series and hopefully encourage some of our local readers to come downtown tonight for the 8:00 concert, featuring music by Missy Mazzoli, Philip Glass, a world premiere of Stephen Hartke’s NETSUKE (2010), and more. Come to the Whittall Pavilion at 6:15 for pre-concert lecture from Stephen Hartke about his new piece, a Library of Congress McKim Fund commission. Need tickets? We start distributing stand-by tickets in the Jefferson Building around 6:00 tonight. Hope to see some of you there – and let us know what you think of the performance!
