• Grant Preapplication Policy
  A preapplication is an optional vehicle that constitutes a potential applicant's intent to submit a formal grant application. A preapplication allows the potential applicant to receive a response from the cognizant SC program office regarding the suitability of his/her proposed research project to SC's interests.

• Energy-Efficient Procurement Requirements online course
  The Energy Policy Act of 2005 requires that federal agencies purchase only ENERGY STAR or FEMP designated products. These products use less energy and reduce life-cycle costs, ultimately saving taxpayers' dollars. In addition, since these products use less energy, they result in fewer greenhouse gas emissions and less air pollution. During this two-hour presentation, you will learn about this and other energy efficient procurement policies, which products this law applies to and how to obtain these products from the federal supply agencies and commercial sources. Specific examples will be covered.
• Energy-Efficient Products Home Page
  As the world's largest volume-buyer of energy-related products, the federal government can reduce energy consumption and achieve enormous cost savings by purchasing energy-efficient products. Federal buyers are now required by the Energy Policy Act of 2005 to purchase products that are ENERGY STAR -qualified or FEMP-designated. (These products are in the upper 25% of energy efficiency in their class.) The purchasing requirements are codified by FAR Part 23. In addition, Executive Order 13221 requires that federal agencies purchase products with low standby power. This web site helps federal purchasers identify these types of highly efficient products.

  The US Government is a major purchaser of products from suppliers throughout the country. Companies with energy-efficient products and services have special opportunities in the federal sector. This document highlights the major avenues to becoming a supplier and gives sources of information for private companies to use.

  The U.S. government is the single largest consumer in the nation, purchasing more than $250 billion in goods and services each year.   The Dept. of Energy's COMcheck materials simplify and clarify commercial and high-rise residential energy code compliance. Forms and checklists are included for documenting compliance. Downloadable and web-based software allow builders to evaluate their commercial construction against International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) and American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) commercial codes.

  The U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE's) REScheck materials have been developed to simplify and clarify code compliance with the Model Energy Code (MEC), the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC), and a number of state codes. Downloadable and web-based software is available to determine energy code compliance for residential buildings.

  The U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE's) e-Center is the Department's web site for information on doing business with DOE, including viewing current business opportunities, registering to submit proposals, and obtaining information and guidance on the acquisition and financial assistance award process.
• Environmental Policy and Guidance (Dept of Energy)
  The U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE's) Environmental Policy and Guidance web site provides access to DOE-wide environmental protection policies and strategies for protecting the public and the environment and for achieving environmental compliance with internal and external environmental requirements. This web site is maintained to provide guidance and training to DOE federal and contractor personnel on Federal environmental regulatory programs.

  The U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE's) NEPA web site provides information regarding DOE NEPA-related activities. The site includes full-text searchable DOE NEPA Documents, NEPA Guidance, and links to other NEPA-related web sites.
• Energy Policy Act (EPAct), FreedomCAR & Vehicle Technologies Program
  The Energy Policy Act of 1992 (EPAct) was passed by Congress to reduce our nation's dependence on imported petroleum by requiring certain fleets to acquire alternative fuel vehicles, which are capable of operating on nonpetroleum fuels. The U.S. Department of Energy administers the regulations through the Federal Fleet Requirements, State and Alternative Fuel Provider Rule, Private and Local Government Fleet Rule, and Alternative Fuel Designation Authority.
• Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program (EEOICP)
  Provides lump-sum compensation and health benefits to eligible Department of Energy nuclear weapons workers (including employees, former employees, contractors and subcontractors) and lump-sum compensation to certain survivors if the worker is deceased.
