Ready to Build?
Partnering with WaterSense is the first step to building a home to earn the WaterSense label. Homes that earn the label must be inspected by a trained inspector and certified by a licensed certification provider partner to meet EPA's criteria.
It's as simple as following this checklist:
- Partner with WaterSense: partnership is required for builders who wish to earn the WaterSense label for their homes and for certification providers that wish to supply quality assurance, train inspectors, and certify homes.
- Find a licensed certification provider partner to coordinate the inspection and certify your home to earn the WaterSense label.
- Learn the details about the WaterSense new home specification and other background information about the WaterSense program.
- Consult the Builder Resource Manual (PDF) (66 pp, 565K, About PDF) for more in-depth instruction to build a home to meet the requirements of the WaterSense New Homes Specification.
- Use the WaterSense Water Budget Tool to develop a design based on a regionally appropriate amount of water.
- If your landscape will have an irrigation system, find a professional certified by a WaterSense labeled program to design and install or audit a water-efficient system.
- Get homes inspected and certified to earn the label
- Promote your WaterSense labeled homes. Use WaterSense partner tools
to market homes and partnership.
