Earning multiple green certifications is an attractive feature in a market where construction companies are looking to gain a competitive edge. The WaterSense New Home Specification is designed to complement the water-efficiency criteria and requirements of other green building programs.

Builders constructing to the WaterSense specification can earn points toward the National Green Building Standard™ or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) for Homes rating system, as well as many regional, state, or local green building programs and certifications.

Affordable Greenbuilding With EPA's New Home Labeling Programs

EPA's ENERGY STAR®, Indoor airPLUS, and WaterSense programs joined Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver to build homes to all three of EPA's voluntary new homes specifications. Habitat for Humanity has incorporated all three specifications to not only save its homeowners water, energy, and money on utility bills, but to give them a safe and healthy home they can be proud to own.
