Five Minutes or Less for Health Weekly Tip: Lower Your Risk for Cervical Cancer

Lower your risk for cervical cancerCervical cancer is cancer in the cervix, which is the lower, narrow end of a woman’s uterus (womb). Take a few minutes to help lower your risk for cervical cancer. When cervical cancer is found early, it is highly treatable and associated with long survival and good quality of life.

  • If you smoke, call 1-800-QUIT-NOW to help you quit.
  • Put on a condom before sex to help prevent some sexually transmitted diseases.
  • Make an appointment to get a Pap test and ask your doctor or nurse about the HPV (human papillomavirus) vaccine.
