Academic Research Enhancement Award (AREA) (R15) (PA-12-006)

bullet   Purpose
The purpose of the NIH Academic Research Enhancement Award (AREA) program is to stimulate research in educational institutions that provide baccalaureate or advanced degrees for a significant number of the Nation's research scientists, but that have not been major recipients of NIH support. Beginning with the October 25, 2009 receipt date, the funding limit for the AREA (R15) will be increased to a total of $300,000 direct costs plus applicable Facilities and Administrative (F&A)/ indirect costs, for up to three years. This program expires January 8, 2015 unless reissued. Only electronic applications are accepted.

NLM's participation is confined to applications that address research in biomedical informatics and bioinformatics.
