  • Selected Images Relating to Civil Defense and Nuclear Energy, Explosions, and Testing, 1925 - 1964
    57 photographs relating to civil defense, the atomic bomb, and other nuclear issues have been digitized. Among the digitized images are photographs of civil defense fall-out shelters, military participation in atomic tests, individuals involved with the development of nuclear ower, "Operation Crossroads", the "Manhattan Project", the effects of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki blasts, the 60 inch cyclotron at the University of California Lawrence Radiation Laboratory at Berkeley, and the first nuclear reactor in the West Stands section of Stagg Field at the University of Chicago. These materials are held by NARA's Still Picture Records(College Park, MD ).
