American Indian/Alaska Native Researchers and Scholars Work Group

The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) convenes racial/ethnic minority workgroups comprising experts in the areas of substance abuse and addiction or health concerns of minority populations. The American Indian/Alaska Native Researchers and Scholars Work Group provides recommendations to NIDA on research needed to better understand, prevent, and treat substance abuse and addiction in American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) populations and to develop addiction research capacity development in AI/AN communities. This workgroup's most recent activity, the Native to Native mentoring program, is centered on mentoring and training underrepresented minorities and others interested in substance abuse and addiction in AI/AN communities.
