FluVaxView - Influenza Vaccination Coverage

The CDC estimates annual influenza vaccination coverage for the United States by utilizing data from several nationally representative surveys: the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS), the National Health Interview Survey (NHIS), and the National Immunization Survey (NIS), and internet panel surveys of adults, health care personnel and pregnant women. This page provides vaccination coverage estimates for 2012-13 and previous influenza seasons. Reports, interactive figures and data tables are provided.

  • CDC routinely recommends that vaccination efforts continue as long as influenza viruses are circulating. It’s especially important that people 65 and older and other high risk persons get vaccinated.


  • As of February 1, 2013, 134.6 million doses of influenza vaccine had been distributed to vaccine providers in the United States for the 2012-2013 season. Recent updates from manufacturers to CDC indicate that 145 million doses of flu vaccine were produced.


  • People seeking vaccination may need to call more than one provider to locate vaccine at this time. The flu vaccine finder at http://flushot.healthmap.org/ may be helpful.
