December 3, 2012 -- December 2-8 is National Influenza Vaccination Week. The CDC recommends that everyone 6 months of age and older receive a flu vaccination each year. Yet according to 2012-13 early season estimates posted on FluVaxView only about 37% of people in the United States have received their flu vaccination this flu season. Also, only 47% of pregnant women have received their flu vaccination, leaving them and their babies at increased risk for flu complications. Significant increases in flu activity in the United States have occurred in November 2012, indicating an early flu season is upon us, so it is important to get your flu vaccination now.

Ask your health care provider about getting a flu vaccination or visit CDC.gov/flu or FLU.gov for more information about influenza including nearby locations for vaccine. You can also visit CDC’s website to see the vaccine coverage reports.
