NIST Blue Ribbon Commission on Management and Safety

The NIST Blue Ribbon Commission on Management and Safety was formed by the Secretary of Commerce to take a high-level look at NIST’s management structure and management systems as they relate to safety policies, procedures, and practices. The Commission will review reports and other materials previously prepared about the June 9 plutonium spill in Boulder; however, it will focus primarily on examining NIST as a whole and on how safety is managed and implemented Institute-wide. The Commission will ultimately issue a report to the Secretary that includes findings designed to establish a pervasive, effective, and sustainable safety culture and management system at NIST.
