TRECVid Multimedia Event Recounting Evaluation Track

The Multimedia Event Recounting (MER) evaluation track is part of the TRECVid Evaluation.The goal of MER is to build upon the technologies being developed under the NIST TRECVid Multimedia Event Detection (MED) evaluation track and develop core recounting technologies that allow a user to analyze the evidence that an automated system used to determine the presence of a specific event occurring in a multimedia clip.

The current year test is MER 12. The task is, given an event kit (textual description and multimedia exemplars), and a test video clip that contains the event, produce a recounting that summarizes the key evidence of the event. For this evaluation, the recounting will be text-only. Participants will be evaluated on 30 multimedia clips that each contains one of five MER events.
